Lost at Sea

I hate my alarm clock. My wife can attest that most days I completely ignore it as it goes off three or four times. Once I’m out of bed, it doesn’t take long for me to be awake, but I’d rather stay in my warm cocoon and get that extra five minutes. This morning as I turned my alarm off, I glanced at a couple emails. One of those emails caused me to give an audible shout of joy(This doesn’t happen often) This email was from the editor at Splickety Prime. The latest contest issue of Splickety Prime launches today.

The theme this month is Lost at Sea and I had submitted a tale of two sea captains. I knew that I had placed as a finalist, and I was quite excited about that. But opening this email and seeing the words: “I’m pleased to inform you that your story is the winner of our contest issue” sent me over the moon. Also, the title of my story is on the cover!

I’m beyond excited to share this news with you! I’m feeling a little more validated today and I’m incredibly honored by this victory. I’m very thankful to all of you who have been pushing me on and encouraging me to stretch my writing.

I plan to keep writing for them, so who knows, you might get more of my stories among the dozens of other fantastic authors.

This amazing news comes this week on top of me being invited to teach a creative writing workshop at a local youth conference. I’m feeling stretched and a little nervous about that, but I have an amazing support team who has my back. I’m going to post more about this later, but for now check out jointheawakening.org/.
